“One Day My Time Will Come”, Anthony Joshua Speaks on Death After Tragic Lagos Crash

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has said he is not afraid of death, declaring that “one day my time will come,” as he mourns the loss of two close friends who died in a fatal car crash in Nigeria.

Joshua, 36, made the remark in an emotional video message posted on his social media platforms, where he thanked fans across the world for their support following the December 29 accident near Lagos that claimed the lives of Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

The British heavyweight, who was a passenger in the Lexus SUV involved in the collision with a stationary truck, described the deceased as more than friends, noting that they were brothers, business partners, and key members of his professional team.

Ghami served as his strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele was his personal trainer.

Reflecting on the tragedy, Joshua said the loss had deeply affected him, adding that the bond they shared went beyond boxing. He also pledged continued support for the families of the deceased, assuring them of his commitment to helping fulfil their dreams.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle has been charged in a Nigerian court with offences including causing death by dangerous driving.

While Joshua has resumed light training, questions remain over his boxing future, with mixed expectations from his promoter and family regarding a possible return or retirement.
