Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been praised for what a Catholic cleric described as people-centred governance and deliberate institution-building aimed at laying a sustainable foundation for long-term development in the state.
The commendation came from the Parish Priest of St. Williams Catholic Church, Orerokpe, Rev. Fr. Peter Awharemuire, during the 70th Thanksgiving Mass of Lady Doris Onoriode Ejinyere, which the Governor attended as a special guest.
Delivering a homily drawn from Jeremiah 29:10–14, Rev. Fr. Awharemuire described Governor Oborevwori’s emergence as Delta State’s Chief Executive as divinely ordained, noting that his leadership was neither accidental nor incidental.
According to the priest, progress recorded in key sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and community development reflects purposeful and Spirit-led governance.
He said the Oborevwori administration stands out for its emphasis on sustainability, stressing that beyond physical projects, the Governor is deliberately building enduring systems in governance, security and social development.
The cleric added that the ongoing transformation in the state was designed to benefit not only the present generation but also generations yet unborn.
Describing the Governor as a leader of uncommon courage, Rev. Fr. Awharemuire said the administration’s achievements had already secured a place in Delta State’s political history.
He added that the Church and the people of the state were proud of a leadership defined by humility, justice, inclusiveness and service, while urging the Governor to continue to lead with wisdom and caution, assuring him of the Church’s continued prayers.
The priest also offered prayers for the celebrant, Lady Doris Ejinyere, whom he described as a just and fair-minded woman.
In his remarks, Governor Oborevwori congratulated Lady Ejinyere on her 70th birthday, describing her as a woman of integrity, strength and unwavering commitment to family and service. He noted that he had known her for many years, praising her uprightness, dependability and principled nature.
The Governor expressed joy at seeing the Ejinyere family united in thanksgiving, describing the celebration as a reflection of strong family values and enduring faith.
He prayed for her continued good health, long life and peace, while acknowledging her sacrifices and dedication to her family and community.
Speaking during the service, Lady Ejinyere expressed gratitude to her family, friends and well-wishers for their love and support over the years.
She paid special tribute to Governor Oborevwori, praising his compassion, sacrifices and visible achievements, which she said were evident to all.
