Operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), under the leadership of ASP. Julius Robinson, have recorded a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the alleged sexual assault incidents in Oramudu Quarters, Ozoro, with the arrest of eleven additional suspects.
The development follows a directive by the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, mandating a thorough and intelligence-led probe into the disturbing incident.
Acting on this mandate, the CP-SAT undertook an extensive review of video evidence and other intelligence, which led to the identification and apprehension of the suspects.
In a statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, those arrested include Samson Atukpodo, Steven Ovie, Ugbevo Samson, Afoke Akporobaro, and Evidence Oguname, alongside six others. The latest arrests bring the total number of suspects currently in custody to fifteen.
The Command who clarified that preliminary investigations indicate that the acts were carried out by “criminal elements who took advantage of the situation to commit sexual violence” stressed that such conduct does not reflect any recognized cultural practice.
Describing the incident as deeply troubling, CP Adesola condemned the actions in strong terms, noting that “these acts are reprehensible and entirely unacceptable.”
He reiterated the Command’s determination to crimes to abrupt end, stating that “all those involved will be diligently pursued and brought to justice in accordance with the law.”
The Police also renewed its appeal to victims and members of the public to come forward with credible information to support the investigation. “We assure that all information received will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” the statement added.
The CP-SAT-led operation signals an intensified law enforcement response, as authorities continue efforts to ensure accountability and reinforce public trust in the justice process.
