United States President Donald Trump has announced that the US and Iran are close to reaching a peace agreement following discussions with several leaders from the Middle East and Gulf region.

Trump made the statement on Sunday in a post on his Truth Social account. He said the agreement had been largely negotiated and was awaiting final approval.

According to Trump, he held talks from the Oval Office with leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain on issues relating to Iran and regional peace.

The leaders involved in the discussions include Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Trump also confirmed that he spoke separately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, adding that the conversation went well.
He said final details of the agreement were still being discussed and would be announced soon.

Trump further stated that the Strait of Hormuz, a major global oil shipping route, would be reopened as part of the agreement.

The development comes amid growing international efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East and prevent further conflict in the region.
