Novena University, Ogume, Delta State, will on June 11, 2026, host the 12th edition of its Nigerian People and Culture Day Carnival, an annual event aimed at promoting national unity and celebrating the country’s rich cultural heritage.

The event, organised by the Directorate of General Studies (GST), will hold at the University Sports Complex, Amai, in Ukwuani Local Government Area, beginning at 10:00 a.m. prompt.

This year’s carnival will bring together students and participants from diverse ethnic backgrounds to showcase the richness and uniqueness of Nigeria’s cultural traditions through traditional dances, indigenous attire, language presentations and other cultural exhibitions.

Highlights of the event include a “Guess the Ethnicity” quiz, cultural displays and presentations in indigenous languages designed to foster a deeper appreciation of Nigeria’s multicultural identity.

The carnival has evolved into one of its flagship events, providing a platform for students to learn about, celebrate and preserve the customs, values and traditions of the nation’s numerous ethnic nationalities.

Director of General Studies, Dr. Azuka O. Chegwe, is the host, while Prof. Godwin C. Nduka is expected to play a key role in the proceedings.

Over the years, the Nigerian People and Culture Day Carnival has grown into a vibrant gathering that promotes intercultural dialogue, mutual respect and national cohesion among students and members of the wider community.

The university has invited students, staff, cultural enthusiasts and members of the public to participate in the celebration, which promises a colourful showcase of Nigeria’s diverse cultural expressions and a reaffirmation of the country’s unity in diversity.
