The Delta State Police Command has impounded 31 vehicles during a statewide visibility policing and enforcement operation carried out in Agbor as part of efforts to strengthen security and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
This is contained in a statement by SP Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, Asaba and obtained by Africa Investigative Magazine, AFIMAG, on July 04, 2026.
The operation, conducted on Friday, July 3, covered the Agbor metropolis, major highways, entry and exit points, as well as border communities between Delta and Edo states. It was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations.
According to Edafe, the exercise was aimed at reinforcing police presence, deterring criminal activities, ensuring compliance with traffic and vehicle registration laws, and denying criminal elements the opportunity to operate.
The Command said the 31 impounded vehicles were found to have committed various offences, including failure to display registration number plates, use of obscured or covered number plates, expired vehicle particulars, and other traffic-related violations.
It added that the affected vehicles would be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction.
Reacting to the development, the state Police Commissioner, Yemi Oyeniyi reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led policing and strategic enforcement operations across the state.
Oyeniyi urged motorists to comply with all traffic and vehicle registration requirements, stressing that strict enforcement is necessary to enhance public safety, prevent crime, and maintain law and order.
