Bloodbath in Bayelsa As Two Rival Cults Clash Again

No fewer than five persons feared dead in a clash between two rival cult groups in Yenogoa, the administrative headquarters of Bayelsa State.

The cults allegedly identified as Icelanders and Bobos disrupted the business activities of people at Ebis Mechanic Road, Aamarata, while killing four persons and robbing others of their valuables.

Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that crises started when Bobos killed a young man over a little argument at a birthday party which took place at Kimiowei Lounge on Monday.

After the argument at the party, the deceased went home without knowing that the members of Bobos were after him.

According to an eyewitness account, the victim was shot twice, and thereafter, machete severally to ensure he was dead.

Further investigations revealed that the deceased who was a resident of Omepadec did not belong to any of the warring cult groups.

Another source who preferred anonymity told Africa Investigative Magazine that the victim shouted for help but people did not give prompt response because of fear.

It was however believed that the news on the sad incident made the Icelander gang who had been on a logger head with Bobos to attack its location, shooting and robbing people of their valuables at gunpoint.

The residents of the area run for their dear lives as the attack led the death of four Bobos members.

When contacted, The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat who confirmed the incident, said the police are on top of the situation.

Effort made to get the names of the deceased proved abortive as everyone scampered for safety for fear of reprisal attack.
