Breaking: DELSU Pulls Out Of ASUU Strike, Commences Academic Activities Fully

The Delta State University, Abraka has directed the students of the institution to return to campus and commence academic activities with immediate effect.

This resolution was reached after a series of meetings was held by the school authorities to review the industrial action instituted by the apex Academic Governing Body, ASUU.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has recently embarked on a-two month strike after its one month warning strike for failure of the Federal Government to address its demands.

The industrial action was alleged to have affected students, parents and guardians negatively by making things more difficult for them.

The Senate of DELSU, Abrka, at its 183rd Regular Meeting held on March 16, 2022, however, resolved to follow the university approved academic calendar strictly.

According to the statement issued after the meeting, all Undergraduates and Postgraduates were advised to return to campus immediately and commence lectures.

It further directed that Faculties and Departments should ensure that academic activities commence fully.

The statement reads in full: “RESUMPTION OF STUDIES

“This is to inform the University Community, particularly Staff, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students that Senate of the Delta State University, at its 183rd Regular Meeting, held on the Wednesday, March 16, 2022, deliberated extensively on the approved University Academic Calendar and decided as follows;

  1. That the University approved Academic Calendar would be followed strictly;
  2. That all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students are to return to campus immediately and commence;
  3. That Faculties and Departments should ensure that Academic activities commence fully.

Consequently, all students are expected to return to campus and commence academic activities with immediate effect,” it said.
