Deltan Activist Tasks Politicians on Citizens’ Welfare, Cautions Against Fake Activism

Odili Ogochukwu -

Comrade Victor Ojei, the leader of the Young Nigerian Rights Organization, has issued a call to action to Nigerian politicians, emphasizing the need to prioritize citizens’ welfare.

Ojei, also known as Wong Box, stressed that politicians must deliver on their promises and ensure that the welfare of the people is at the forefront of their agendas.

In a statement titled, ‘Our Message to Deltans’, the Deltan born activist also warned against fake activism, cautioning that some individuals are more interested in self-aggrandizement than genuine advocacy.

He urged citizens to be vigilant and discerning in their support for activists, ensuring that they are backing individuals who truly prioritize the welfare of the people.

Ojei’s message comes at a time when Nigeria is facing significant economic and social challenges. His call to action serves as a reminder to politicians that they must be accountable to the people and prioritize their welfare.

As the leader of the Young Nigerian Rights Organization, Ojei has been a vocal advocate for human rights and social justice in Nigeria. His organization has been instrumental in promoting awareness and mobilizing action on key issues affecting Nigerian citizens.

The statement read partly: “Our message to Deltans is to remain steadfast in holding leaders accountable while embracing unity and peace. To politicians, we urge you to prioritize the welfare of the people by delivering on your promises, as the voice of the masses will only grow louder.

“To my fellow Activists, let us stand firm for justice, equity, and social development, ensuring every Deltan enjoys their fundamental rights.

“… there are now criminals and hoodlums parading as activists in Delta State. We are watching you. The public must be conscious of these so-called activists who have no legitimate work but roam about as full-time Activists, often collaborating with corrupt police officers to exploit the same youths they claim to defend.”

According to him, “When youths call these individuals for help, they unknowingly expose themselves to further exploitation, as these pretenders collude with officers to extort them and later collect kickbacks for their conspiracy.

“We call on Deltans to be vigilant and question the motives of anyone claiming to be an Activist. True advocacy is about integrity, not self-aggrandizement. Together, let us expose such fraudulent practices and work towards a Delta State built on transparency, fairness, and justice for our people.”
