Four Killed, 12 Arrested In Enugu Communal Clash

About four persons have been reported killed, and over twelve people arrested over the communal crisis between Oyofo and Awha villages in Enugu State.
The Enugu State Police Command who confirmed this, said four persons were killed in a new communal clash in the Ezeagu Local Government Area of the State.
The crisis began on August 11, 2023, at about 10 am with the burning of one tricycle and five motorcycles.
Commenting, the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ammani, said security operatives have been redeployed to the troubling communities to maintain law and order.
According to him, the deployment was to maintain the normalcy already restored in the area after the clash.
A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on August 13, 2023, said 12 persons have been arrested in connection with the clash and killings.
It reads in part, “Meanwhile, preliminary investigation shows that the clash is a result of a land ownership dispute between the villages.”
