Herdsmen Attack Bayelsa State Community, Kill Traditional Chief

Suspected herdsmen have launched an attacked on Okordia Akumoni community in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, killing Chief Bob Wilson and injuring a few others.
The incident which took place on March 20, 2023, creating much tension in the fish settlement areas in the state, witnessed the killing of the deputy village chief.
Most of the people injured are said to be fishermen doing their businesses in the area and farmers planting Okro, pepper, and other crops.

Commenting, the Bayelsa State Police spokesman, SP Asinim Butswat, said suspected herdsmen attacked the area which led to the killing of a fisherman.
He noted that the police had recovered the corpse and had commenced an investigation into the matter.
“Suspected herdsmen killed one man in the fishing camp there, we were able to recover the corpse, he died as a result of the bullet wound as was observed in his body,” Butswat said.
