June 12 Massacre: Fulani Herdsmen Kill 15, Burn Houses In Benue

Suspected Fulani Herdsmen have on June 12, 2022, killed about 15 persons in an attack in Igama village in Edumoga Ehaje community, Okpokwu Local Government Area, Benue State.

The Fulanis who were heavily armed with AK-47 rifles allegedly invaded the community, shot sporadically, and set houses ablaze.

At the time of filing this report, a reasonable number of the community dwellers were still missing after the attack that took place on Sunday morning.

Africa Investigative Magazine learned that the armed men stormed the house of one of the senators in the community around 6:50 a.m, in an attempt to abduct him but met his absence.

It was further learned that the hoodlums killed as many people as they could reach and destroyed houses.

An eyewitness who preferred anonymity said Igama was invaded as people were preparing for church.

“On Sunday, June 12, 2022, the Igama community was attacked by Fulanis as people were preparing to go to the church. They came with guns, killing anyone they caught up with.

“A lot of people are not found yet. Nine dead bodies have been seen. Though, we are still searching for our people,” he said.
