Major Reason UNILORIN Expels 6 Final Year Students And 13 Others

The University of Illorin, UNILORIN, Kwara State, has expelled six final year students and thirteen others over various degree of offenses.

This comes to play after the Institution Management approved the expulsion and rustication for 19 students over misconduct.

The University Authority listed the crimes to include misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering and extortion.

Others were fighting and beating of a fellow student, admission racketeering, as well as assault.

A statement by the Director Corporate Affairs of the Institution, Kunle Akogun, said the the approval of expulsion/rustication of the students by the Vice Chancellor, Wahab Egbewole was sequel to the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee at its 220th/221st meeting.

The management said the concerned students were punished for their “offences ranging from misconduct, theft, examination malpractice, hostel bed-space racketeering and extortion, beating a fellow student, admission racketeering, as well as assault.”

It added that penalties for the offences committed by the students included rustication for either one semester or one academic session and expulsion.
