Ndokwa West Legislative Arm Suspends Deputy Leader, Invites Council Sec For Explanation Over Plan To Reconstitute Revenue Committee

Ndokwa West Legislative Arm, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ndubisi Okoloafor, yesterday invited the local government council secretary, Mr. Augustine Okom for explanation over plan to refurbish Revenue Committee without the consent of the arm.

The Arm condemned the intended plan of reconstitution of revenue committee, saying that the action contravened the 2016 Tariff Bye-law as amended.

During the plenary, the lawmakers explained that it was unlawful for whosoever in the council to re-establish the said committee without recourse to the Bye-law that has been signed into law.

The Councilors directed the House Committee on Revenue ably led by Hon. (Mrs.) Kate Okoh to summon the Secretary to LGC, Rt Hon. Augustine O. Okom, for an explanation.

Earlier, the Legislative Arm suspended its Deputy Leader and Councillor representing wards 1, over what it described as unethical conduct.

It was learned that the embattled deputy leader misled the House by requesting for a name from each of them over none existing empowerment program.

The legislative arm hinted that the Deputy Leader had also breached the oath of office and must be suspended.

Declaring his suspension, the House who cited sections 173, 17.3, 17.4, and 17.5 of the rules on discipline and suspension of members, noted no one should drag the reputation of the arm into the mud.
