PDP In Emergency Meeting As Wike, Makinde, Others Pulled Out From Campaign Committee

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for an emergency meeting to find a lasting solution to the crisis rocking the party.

The meeting became paramount after Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, ex-information minister Prof. Jerry Gana, Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde as well as other prominent party officials resigned from the PDP’s presidential campaign committee on September 21, 2022.

Recall that Nyesom Wike’s caucus, yesterday, after a meeting in Port Harcourt announced their withdrawal from the party’s presidential campaign council.

It was learned that the campaign council was supposed to be inaugurated the upper week.

The aggrieved party members who attributed their action to the refusal of the party’s chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign, said the position must go to the South for balance, justice, and equity.

The peoples democratic party has not breathed the air of peace since the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates respectively for the 2023 general elections.

Responding, the party leaders held a lengthy meeting to discuss how the decision Wike and his caucus may affect their plans.

The National Working Committee will, however, take decision be today after the meeting.
