Update: One Dead, Seven Injured In Balogun Market Fire

One person has been found dead in the fire that gutted two plazas at the Balogun Market, Lagos Island on March 28, 2023.
The Lagos Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, who confirmed the figures, said seven people were injured.
Farinloye further disclosed that security operatives have arrested four persons who were allegedly stealing from wares when it was burning.
Africa Investigative Magazine reported the fire incident which destroyed a five-story building in the popular Balogun market on March 28, 2023, in Lagos.
A well-known market in Lagos State, Balogun, has been gutted by fire on March 28, 2023.
The fire destroyed physical cash realized from daily sales and other stocks amounting to millions of naira belonging to occupants of Balogun market in a five-storey building.
It was learned that the fire, mostly affected the segment in the plaza that shoes are sold by women.

Firefighters from two jurisdictions in the state Fire Service had been deployed in to the scene to save the situation.
Recall that there have been several cases of fire incidents in the market, with properties worth billions of naira ravaged in the process.
