Tompolo Makes Historic Return, Launches Delta State Security Trust Fund with N10 Billion

Renowned Niger Delta leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on Wednesday, made a dramatic return to the public scene after more than a decade, as he performed the role of Chief Launcher at the official launch of the Delta State Security Trust Fund held at the Government House, Asaba.

The event, presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, attracted top government officials, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, political leaders, and other key stakeholders from across Delta State.

Tompolo’s first formal engagement with the government in years sparked widespread attention and excitement, with many viewing it as a symbolic moment for peace and renewed collaboration in the Niger Delta.

In his address, Governor Oborevwori described Tompolo’s presence as a “powerful statement of partnership and commitment to lasting peace and security in Delta State.”

The governor reiterated his administration’s determination to strengthen security architecture and ensure that all parts of the state, including the riverine areas, remain peaceful and safe for residents and investors alike.

“Security is a collective responsibility. The Delta State Security Trust Fund is designed to ensure sustainable funding for security operations, intelligence gathering, and inter-agency coordination,” Oborevwori stated.

The Delta State Security Trust Fund, according to the governor, is an innovative initiative aimed at mobilizing public and private sector resources to support law enforcement agencies, improve logistics, and enhance the overall safety and stability of the state.

Delivering his goodwill message, Tompolo expressed appreciation to the governor for the initiative and pledged his continued support for efforts that promote peace, unity, and development in Delta State.

“Peace remains the foundation for progress. I will continue to support every genuine effort to maintain security and foster development in our state and the Niger Delta,” Tompolo assured.

Several traditional rulers and heads of security agencies present at the occasion commended Governor Oborevwori for institutionalizing a sustainable framework for security management, noting that the Trust Fund would go a long way in improving coordination and response capacity across the state.

Tompolo’s reemergence at the high-profile event marks a significant moment in Delta’s socio-political landscape, signaling a renewed synergy between the government, community leaders, and security stakeholders in the collective pursuit of peace and stability in the state.
