Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm New Year greetings to the people of the state as they usher in the Year 2026, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to accelerated development and improved governance.
In a New Year message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor expressed deep gratitude to God Almighty for His protection, grace and sustaining presence over Delta State and its people throughout the past year.
Governor Oborevwori described the New Year as a season of renewed hope, fresh beginnings and shared responsibility, urging Deltans to reflect on the lessons of the past while looking ahead with optimism, courage and unity of purpose.
He commended the people of the state for their resilience, patience and peaceful disposition, noting that the modest but impactful gains recorded across critical sectors of the state were made possible by the collective commitment of Deltans to peace and progress.
The Governor assured that the aspirations, hopes and concerns of the people would remain central to his administration’s policies and programmes.
He stated that in 2026, the government would intensify efforts in good governance, infrastructure renewal, job creation, youth empowerment, improved security and inclusive economic growth, in line with the MORE Agenda of his administration.
Governor Oborevwori further called on residents to continue to shun violence and embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing that sustainable development and shared prosperity can only thrive in an atmosphere of enduring peace and social harmony.
He also appealed to political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration with the state government, emphasizing that building a stronger, fairer and more prosperous Delta State is a collective responsibility.
While wishing Deltans a peaceful, prosperous and fulfilling New Year, the Governor expressed confidence in the collective destiny of the state, assuring that his administration would remain steadfast in delivering people-oriented policies and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of all citizens and positioning Delta State on a sustainable path of growth and shared prosperity.
