Domestic Violence: Sanwo-Olu Talks Tough, Takes Action Against Sex Offenders
The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the decision of the state government to publish the details of sex offenders.
Lagos state government took the decision to publicly disclose the identity of sex offenders to check domestic and sexual violence in the state.

Sanwo-Olu who disclosed this yesterday in a statement through the Executive Secretary of Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Mrs. Ittilola Vivour-Adeniyi said it would not give room for any form of domestic violence or sexual offenders.
Mrs. Titilola who spoke during a press conference at the agency’s office, said lagos state government has begun the publication of details of sex offenders in the state.

She said, “In furtherance of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s zero tolerance for all forms of domestic and sexual violence, the state government has begun the publication of details of sex offenders in the state.
“These details include: name and picture of the sex offender, the nature of the offence as well as the duration of the sentence handed down by the court.

Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi explained that the provision of section 42 of the agency’s law empowered the government to publish the details of sex convicts.
“This is in line with the provisions of the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law, particularly Section 42, which provides that the agency is to periodically publish details of sex convicts in the state.
“As further provided in the law, the details of sex convicts are to be published periodically on the websites of the state government, the Ministry of Justice and the agency.
“Letters of advisory have been issued to local governments and traditional rulers of the communities where the convicts previously resided,” she said.
