2022 W’Cup: Ecuador Trashes Qatar 2-0 In Opening Game

The long awaited 2022 fifa world cup has commenced with the host Qatar losing 2-0 to Ecuador. This was the first match of the World Cup as hosts Qatar took on Ecuador.

Qatar has never lost its opening game at such a tournament, and the first Arab hosts will want to continue that run.

The game was trailed with a controversial beginning after VAR ruled off Ecuador’s goal just three minutes into the game.

Valencia’s second goal at 33 minutes further frustrated the host team who could not do enough to prove her six months camping.

Hassan, however, streaked an action over the bar from miles out, which was Qatar’s first ever World Cup shot.

Ecuador captain, Enner Valencia gave his nation the lead after just three minutes when heading home Felix Torres’ acrobatic cross, after Qatar goalkeeper Saad Al Sheeb had flapped at Pervis Estupinan’s free kick delivery.

It was a big, early setback for Qatar, who were looking to avoid becoming the first host nation to lose their opening game. The Video Assistant Referee, though, came to Qatar’s rescue and ruled out the goal for offside to much confusion.

Ecuador smiles with three points, edging past their counterparts with two goals. No one would go home feeling cheated.
