Delta Police Engages Fleeing Bandits Who Killed Two Officers In Fierce Battle

The Delta state Police Command has engaged hoodlums who killed two police officers on stop-search duty at Oleh roundabout in a gun duel.

This is followed by the July 23, 2023, attack on security operatives attached to Dragon Patrol on stop and search duty at Oleh roundabout by suspected bandits who killed two police officers and set their patrol vehicle ablaze.

A statement by the command’s spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright, said bandits shot and killed two officers, with the police van set ablaze on July 23, at 1140hours while on stop and search duty at Oleh.

Edafe stated that the state commissioner of police, CP Wale Abass, mandated a combined team of Policemen attached to Ozoro Area command and Dragon patrol to fish out the culprits.

“In response to the attack on Police operatives attached to Dragon Patrol team on 23/7/2023, at about 1140hours while on stop and search duty at Oleh roundabout by suspected bandits, who shot and killed two operatives and set the patrol vehicle ablaze,” said Edafe.

According to him, the Nigerian Army 63 Brigade and members of the local vigilante group swung into action, leading to fierce gun battle between the combined team and the hoodlums.

The security operatives subdued the hoodlums who fled into the bush after sustaining various degree of gunshot injuries.

“The team traced their blood to a river where one A-.K-47 rif!le was recovered on the same date of the incident. The response team sustained the tempo and continued the operation on,” he said.
