Breaking: Suspected Cultists Kill DPO In Rivers

Bako Amgbanshin, a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in Rivers State, was at the evening of September 08, 2023, killed by suspected cultists.

The culprits, it was gathered, allegedly caught and butchered Amgbanshin in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state.

They laid an ambush while on an operation with other police officers to raid some criminal hideouts in Ahoada East axis.

A source who preferred anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter said his killers were armed with sophisticated weapons, adding that they opened fire on sighting the security operatives.

According to him, there was a shootout for some minutes between the DPO-led men and the hoodlums until the operatives fell short of bullets and ammunition.

He added that Angbanshin stood his ground while the other officers retreated.

It was, however, gathered that while DPO Angbanshin tried to escape, he was weighed down by a muscle cramp which made the cultists capture him alive.

A footage circulating on social media showed the victim’s head, hand and other body parts detached with several deep machete cuts.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the killing of the DPO, saying it was true.
