BREAKING: Nigeria Procures 12 Super Tunacos Combat Aircraft, Says Garba Shehu

The official spokesperson to the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Garba Shehu has said that fourteen pilots are presently training with the aircraft at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia.

Garba Shehu stated that six of twelve Super Tucanos aircraft are on track to arrive Nigeria in mid July 2021, with the remaining six to arrive shortly after that.

Mr Garba gave the hint on Tuesday at his verified Twitter account.

The the video footage posted by the presidential spokesperson revealed Test Flight Operation of newly acquired Super Tucano combat aircraft.

The video was however credited to the Sierra Nevada Corporation, Vimeo.

In an interview on Channels TV monitored by Africa Investigative Magazine, Garba Shehu admitted that the army has some problems with purchasing arms, noting that purchases made last March were not delivered fully.

The SSA to President Buhari had in the past said, “In August 2020, Nigeria government procured twelve Tucano aircraft suitable for the kind of war we are fighting in the Northeast.

“The military has also procured other arms. The Navy is almost done procuring the needed equipments. They have been delivered.

“The airforce has purchased 35 helicopters from Ukraine. We have bought drones.”

Garba Shehu stressed that there has been problem with purchasing of arms, adding that arms would come bit and in pieces.
