Following various attacks on the attacks on students of Gateway Polytechnic, Sapaade, Ogun State, the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has said that the body will not longer entertain any form of violent attack.
NANS disclosed this in a statement while responding to the December 02, 2023, that a student of Gateway Polytechnic, was shot dead and nine others sustained injuries by suspected hoodlums and criminal elements.
According to the statement, President-elect of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, stated that one student was killed, and about nine others sustained bullet injuries.
He said, “this is one too many incidents from the same school and community. It will no longer be tolerated from any criminal element whose aim is to frustrate, attack, harass, embarrass, molest, assault, rape, defile, maim and/or even kill the Nigerian students’ dream.
“I therefore call on the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police of Ogun State and other Security Agencies in and around the state to double their efforts and men to curb and fish out these criminal elements, and if they be found wanting, should be seriously dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.
“That is the only way to redeem the image of the already battered Police and other Security Agencies of the land, and this will in turn rejuvenate the confidence reposed on them.”
