See Why Court Sentence Four To Death By Hanging In Rivers

High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has sentenced four persons to death by hanging for committing heinous crimes.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Weli Chechey, who found them guilty of the offense, directed that the four persons be hanged in the neck till they are confirmed dead.

They were arraigned for murdering Mrs. Esther Edomobi in 2008.

The four condemned young men have been standing trial since 2008 over conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder of late Mrs. Edomobi.

It was gathered that late Mrs. Edomobi employed Zachariah Dauda, as a security guard in her residence who conspired with other accused persons to rob and murder her.

Justice Weli Chechey, however, found them guilty as charged, for conspiring among themselves to murder the deceased and carting away her property and millions of pounds.

In his judgment, he explained that the evidence presented before the court showed that the defendants killed the late Mrs. Esther Edomobi in a gruesome manner by hitting her hard with an object which pulled out her eyes.

Justice Chechey maintained that the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
