Naira Swap: Hospital Denies Rejecting Patients Without Cash
Afimag.com –
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has repudiated the reports making round on social media that it has been rejecting patients without cash.
The Hospital Management made this known in a statement issued by head of media unit, Usman Abdullahi Koli, and obtained by Africa Investigative Magazine.
Okoli said the report as an attack on the hospital’s reputation, describing it as fake and baseless, adding that the hospital still considers patients with cash.
“Members of the public are advised to disregard the rumours, while the hospital continues to accord priority to patients.”
According to Koli, ATBUTH has embraced the federal government’s cashless policy introduced through the Central Bank, in order to make transactions easy to patients and their relatives.
He said the hospital introduced a new method to ease the process of payments by patients on admission and those that will come for health care services.
“The management agrees to collect all kinds of e-payment across the hospital in all collation centers, and a printout Remita will be given to the client for validation of payment.”
He said, Point of Sale (PoS) operators are also available at some payment points for transfer and transaction of the naira notes, while charges for the PoS are being coordinated by the management.
He also stated that the hospital has improved its network capacity for the utilization of internet banking as well as to save time with improved accessibility.
