Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed men and recovered two pump action guns alongside seven live cartridges during a stop-and-search operation at the Head Bridge in Asaba.
The arrest was carried out by officers attached to the Buffalo Patrol Team on May 6, 2026, at about 7:06 p.m. while conducting routine security checks at the boundary between Delta and Anambra states.
According to the statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Bright Edafe, the operatives intercepted a black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with registration number ABJ 254 CD for inspection.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Chukwu Emeka Okeke, 30; Ndudo Tochukwu, 37; and Oraka Kaosiso Chukwu, 34.
The statement said the officers became suspicious during the search and proceeded to conduct a detailed inspection of the vehicle. The search reportedly led to the recovery of two pump action guns loaded with seven live cartridges.
The three suspects were immediately arrested and taken into custody, while the recovered weapons were secured as exhibits.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the firearms and the mission of the suspects.
Reacting to the operation, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism.
Oyeniyi reiterated the command’s commitment to proactive policing and intelligence-driven operations aimed at preventing the movement of illegal arms and combating criminal activities across the state.
