Gunmen Kill Anambra Community Leader

The residents of Umuoji Community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, have been thrown into mourning following the killing of their President General, Comrade Silas Onyima, by unknown gunmen.
Silas was shot dead by hoodlums, numbering about 15, who invaded his residence at the late hours of February 23, 2024.
It was learnt that the deceased was newly emerged the president general of the community and presided over only an election in the community.
He was killed on Friday evening when some masked men besieged his residence and riddled the entire place with bullets.
Reacting to the incident, the state police public relations officer, PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident saying that security operatives have been redeployed in the area to fish out the culprits.
“The police are aware of the development. We got the information and we have deployed our men to the area. Our men have gone to the scene when the information got to us, they found the man in a pool of blood.
“The body of deceased has been recovered and deposited at the morgue with the help of some of the family members. We are also working with some eyewitnesses and community members to help track the perpetrators and investigation is ongoing,” he said.
