Civil Society Leaders Will Also Participate In The Summit.
United States President, Joe Biden, has invited President Muhammadu Buhari and 39 other world leaders to a summit in effort to resolve the global climate crisis.
The two-day virtual summit will place America in its usual position in the fight against climate change caused by humanity.
According to the White House, “the summit is scheduled for April 22, 2021 to April 23, 2021. The meeting is expected to help reposition, speed up and improve global efforts to tackle climate wrecking fossil fuel pollution.
In a statement released on Friday by the White House, “the two day summit will also highlight examples of how enhanced climate ambition will create good paying jobs, advance innovative technologies, and assist vulnerable countries adapt to climate impacts.”
The major World Leaders invited by President Biden to the summit were; Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The Leaders of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, countries responsible for approximately 80 per cent of global emissions and global GDP, and a small number of Businesses and Civil Society Leaders were also invited.
Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would participate at the summit.
