The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dewayles Group of Companies, High Chief (Dr.) Emonena Wayles Egukawhore, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the numerous dignitaries, associates, traditional rulers, political leaders, business partners, friends and well-wishers who honoured the memory of his late eldest sister, Madam Patience Igho Egukawhore, and stood by his family throughout the period of mourning and her final interment.
In a goodwill message after the burial ceremony, High Chief Egukawhore described the overwhelming show of love, solidarity and support as deeply comforting and a testament to the enduring relationships built over the years.
The burial ceremony, held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, attracted eminent personalities from across Nigeria, including representatives of the Bayelsa and Delta State Governments, members of the National and State Assemblies, top government officials, captains of industry, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, professional associates and other distinguished guests.
High Chief Egukawhore specifically acknowledged the presence and support of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, represented at the event; the Wife of the Governor of Delta State, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori; representatives of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori; the Minister of State for Petroleum, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Frederick Agbedi; lawmakers, commissioners, local government chairmen, political leaders, business executives and other notable personalities who attended the funeral.
He also appreciated traditional institutions, the clergy, the Isoko Development Union, the Ijaw National Congress, presidents-general of various communities, old boys of James Welch Grammar School, Emevor, and the many organisations and individuals whose prayers, messages, visits and acts of kindness provided strength and comfort to the family.
According to him, while the loss of his beloved sister remains painful, the outpouring of love received from people across different walks of life reinforced the family’s faith and offered great consolation during the difficult period.
“I am sincerely grateful to everyone who identified with my family during this period of bereavement. Your presence, prayers, words of encouragement and various acts of support have left an indelible mark on our hearts. Though we mourn the passing of our beloved sister, we remain thankful to God Almighty for granting her a fulfilled and impactful life.
“On behalf of my family, I extend our profound appreciation to everyone who travelled from far and near to honour her memory and support us. We do not take your kindness for granted, and we pray that God richly blesses and rewards each of you.”
High Chief Egukawhore noted that the late Madam Patience Igho Egukawhore, fondly known as “Big Mama,” lived a life defined by compassion, generosity and service to humanity, adding that her legacy would continue to inspire generations.
