The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has on June 16, 2022, unveiled the Governor of Delta State, Sen (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa as its vice presidential candidate for the 2023 election.
Governor Okowa emerged as the PDP vice presidential candidate, against speculations that the position will go to the Rivers State governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike.

Recently, there had been a rumor that the Party picksd Wike as her VP candidate based on his brilliantnce and political attributes.
Africa Investigative Magazine gathered that Gov Ifeanyi Okowa was chosen from the incumbent governors and politicians in the South-East and South-South regions.
Reacting, the Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Media, Mr. Ovie Success Ossai described the development as a victory for Nigeria and PDP, saying that Okowa’s intelligence on governance will help Atiku achieve his goals for Nigeria.
He said the choice of Gov Okowa to vice Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will guarantee live-size victory for the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023 presidential election.
“It is a victory for Nigeria. Okowa syndicate will give PDP a live-size victory in 2023. His choice as Atiku’s running mate will unite Christians and Muslims in the country.
“Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s competent and knowledge will definitely help the PDP standard-bearer in achieving his set agenda for Nigeria,” said Success.
